# Assistant

> The in-dashboard AI assistant — chat about your account, build and edit flows, and get help with any part of the platform.

The Talkif Assistant is an AI chat built into the dashboard. It answers questions about your account, proposes edits to your flows, and can build a complete flow from a plain-language description. It is available on every dashboard page and adapts to the page you're on.

## What it can do

The assistant is not one generalist — it is five specialists, and the dashboard picks one for you based on the page you have open. Each specialist can **look things up** (read-only, scoped to your account) and **propose actions**. A proposal is a card in the chat with a confirm button; nothing runs until you press it.

| Page you're on | Specialist | Focus |
| -------------------------------------------------- | ------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Flows, flow canvas | **Flow** | Designing, editing, publishing and wiring flows to numbers |
| Calls, Analytics | **Analysis** | What happened on calls and why |
| Campaigns, Schedules, Contacts | **Outreach** | Running outbound: contacts, DNC, campaigns, schedules |
| Support | **Support** | Account, balance and transaction questions; hand-off to the Talkif team |
| Dashboard, Phone numbers, Billing, everything else | **General** | Broad access across the platform |

Routing is automatic and silent — open the relevant page and ask. If a specialist can't do something (Analysis can't publish a flow, for example), it can navigate you to the page where the right specialist lives.

#### Flow — design, edit, publish, connect

**Looks up:** your flows and their full definitions, flow functions, variables, templates, available models and voices, phone numbers, available numbers to buy, contacts, the do-not-call list, balance, and — given a URL — your business website.

**Proposes:** create a flow, build a complete flow from a description, save or publish a flow, duplicate, roll back to a previous version, archive, save as template, delete; connect or disconnect a number; buy a number; place a test call.

Edits to an open flow arrive as an artifact with a visual diff — see [Editing existing flows](#editing-existing-flows).

#### Analysis — what happened on calls

**Looks up:** recent calls with filters, the full record of a call (transcript, status, end reason, cost breakdown), analytics summaries, call outcomes, campaigns and their contacts.

**Proposes:** run a post-call analysis on a call (a paid action — the price is on the confirm card); end a call that is in progress; publish a flow.

Typical asks: *"Why did yesterday's campaign have so many `noanswer` results?"*, *"Which calls last week ended with `balance_depleted`?"*, *"Summarise the last ten calls on the receptionist flow."*

#### Outreach — contacts, DNC, campaigns, schedules

**Looks up:** contacts, the do-not-call list, campaigns and their contacts, schedules, analytics summaries, balance, flows and numbers.

**Proposes:** create, update or delete a contact; add to or remove from the do-not-call list; create a campaign, add contacts to it, start, pause, resume, cancel or restart it; create, pause, resume or delete a schedule; place a single call; build a flow.

#### Support — account questions and hand-off

**Looks up:** an account snapshot, balance, transaction history, recent calls and call details, and your website.

**Proposes:** contact support. On confirmation your message is sent to the Talkif team with your account and email attached; the team follows up by email.

#### General — everywhere else

Has nearly the full read surface above and can propose most of the same actions, plus releasing a phone number. Use it from the dashboard, phone-number or billing pages when your question doesn't fit one specialist.

## Nothing happens without you

Two rules are enforced server-side, not by the prompt:

* **Look-ups are read-only.** No tool the assistant can call changes anything in your account.
* **Every change is a proposal you confirm.** Each proposed action carries a risk class that decides what the confirm card looks like:

| Class | Examples | Confirm card |
| ----------- | -------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------- |
| Navigate | Open the campaigns page | None — it just takes you there |
| Write | Publish a flow, connect a number, pause a campaign | Plain confirm |
| Spend | Buy a number, place a call, analyse a call | Shows the price before you confirm |
| Destructive | Delete a flow or contact, release a number | Heavy warning before you confirm |

Adding credit, changing cards and other payment operations are deliberately **not** something the assistant can propose — those stay in the billing pages under your own hands. Confirmed actions run under your session with your permissions, so a member who can't publish a flow in the dashboard can't publish one through the assistant either.

## Flow builds

Ask for a new flow — for example, *"Build a receptionist flow for my dental clinic"* — and optionally give your business website URL. The build runs server-side through four steps:

| Step | What happens |
| ----------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Research** | Investigates your business website (skipped when no URL is given) |
| **Architect** | Designs the node structure, transitions, and services |
| **Write prompts** | Writes each agent node's prompt, one node at a time, with a critic reviewing quality |
| **Assemble** | Validates the result and creates the draft flow |

Progress streams to the dashboard live, including per-node prompt-writing status. When the build completes, you get a normal draft flow — review and refine it in the [flow editor](/build) before publishing.

One flow build runs per account at a time; starting a second while one is running returns a conflict.

### Editing existing flows

On a flow page, the assistant reads your current definition and proposes changes as an artifact — a complete updated flow with validation results and a visual diff. Apply it to update the canvas, or keep chatting to iterate. Proposals are validated before they reach you, and publish-level issues surface as warnings.

## Conversations

Conversations are saved server-side. You can list your recent conversations (up to 50) and reopen any of them with the full transcript. Conversations are private to you within the account — other members of the same account never see them.

If a conversation grows too long for a single turn, the assistant tells you to start a new chat.

## Usage & billing

Assistant usage is metered by model token spend and drawn from three sources, in order:

| Tier | What it is |
| --------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Monthly allowance** | A free monthly allowance, reset at the start of each UTC calendar month with no rollover. Active once your account has a verified phone and a card on file |
| **Bonus credit** | 10% of every real balance top-up is granted as bonus assistant credit, valid for 90 days. Consumed after the monthly allowance, oldest expiry first |
| **Account balance** | Once the free tiers are exhausted, further usage is billed to your credit balance and appears as **Assistant Usage** in your [transaction history](/account/cost-breakdown) |

The dashboard shows your current tiers, active bonus grants, and the next reset date.

## Limits

| Limit | Value |
| ------------------------- | ------------------- |
| Prompts per account | 10 per minute |
| Conversation history list | 50 most recent |
| Flow build request length | 10–4,000 characters |
| Concurrent flow builds | 1 per account |

When something goes wrong mid-chat, the error message states the specific cause (for example, a conversation that outgrew its context window) and includes a request reference you can quote to support.
